Buy-now-pay-later options are powerful sales motivators for customers and appealing features for our customers and it certainly seems to be a growing trend for eCommerce stores.
In the last few years of BC I’ve lost a few clients to Shopify, and perhaps other platforms, due to not having AfterPay support. And so far I’ve lost the interest of a few potential clients for Treepl for the same requirement.
From my perspective (in Australia), AfterPay seems to be the dominant player for eCommerce stores, but I’m open to others thoughts and insights - perhaps there are more globally accepted options, or specific regional preferences?
I know ZipPay is making a presence here too, particularly in retail stores/point-of-sale, so maybe that’s an option as well or instead of?
I guess this would be an alternate payment option alongside credit card (like choosing to use PayPal for example).
I’d love to hear from any other partners who have worked with clients implementing AfterPay or similar with other platforms and how beneficial the payment option has been, or not, for them.
We have a client who has said if we can’t get afterpay integration they’ll be moving to Shopify, rather than migrating to Treepl. I agree this is a powerful feature for customers.
AfterPay would be a fantastic option to have. AfterPay has had strong consumer uptake in NZ and it has rapidly become a common payment method with many ecommerce sites adopting it. I’ve had 2 clients request AfterPay and I lost one client to shopify as we couldn’t facilitate in Treepl.
Notes: AfterPay is currently available in AU, US, UK, NZ, CA. It is an “alternative” payment method (Buy now/ Pay later). Not a stand-alone payment processing solution.
Stripe offers a gateway with the main payment providers in Europe. As far as we can see - it is not too difficult to implement. it would be very convenient for us to add that option to the TREEPL E-COMMERCE gateway as extension to the “creditcard only” version of Stripe. Creditcards are not so often used in Europe, so current implementation of Stripe will keep conversions low and that is reason for us NOT to implement new E-commerce sites as long as these Stripe payment option or Europe (Ideal/Bancontact… etc) is not implemented.
