Hi - I am using the new Lawyer template for a website and would like to have a silent video playing behind the headline text on the home page ‘hero’ instead of a static image. Really struggling to get this to work, please could anyone advise if there is a simple bit of coding change I can do -
this is the template https://lawyer.treepl.co/
I only need one slide (video) in the slidshow - not changing sldies
Hi @Dawn.
You’d probably want to remove the slider code, then set an absolutely positioned video element. Not quite a simple task though…
This may help:

Otherwise let us know what you’ve tried and a link to the site if possible.
Hi Adam Thank you for the link and for your help.
I managed to get the overall effect I am after on this page - https://the-walking-business-coach.treepl.co/
It still needs alot of tidying up on the code and the text to stand out. I also havnt cross browser tested yet. But apart from that… can you see anything else that I will need to check or that is horribly wrong, or do you think I should rethink and start again?
Looking good @Dawn.
The standout things to me would be:
- the video file size and load time. At 70mb it’s probably not suitable. You’d want to get it down A LOT!
- need for multiple video file formats (for browser compatibility)
As long as you follow the main recommendations from that link I think you’ll be fine.
Brilliant thank you for your help - I did wonder about the file size, but thought I had got away with it (it was wishful thinking!!).
Hi @Dawn
Normally when we do this I find “Revolution Slider” plugin relatively easy when doing a slide with a video. This plugin will pull your video from Vimeo/Youtube and then you don’t have the problem with the compression
Just a small input
Hi Peter - this sounds just like what I need. Can you post a link to where I can find it. I did a quick search and can only find as a Revolution Slider as a Wordpress plugin. Thank you
Hi Dawn - You can buy/download it here. I would say that it is well worth the money, we use this slider a lot
Here is the site we are currently working on where we use it on the frontpage

thank you so much - this looks amazing, its in my shopping cart, will play around with later - (ps. love your website)
No worries Dawn, glad I could help.
There are some great “templates” when you download it that I guess you could more or less just copy/paste to have it get a vimeo or youtube video.
Thanks
I just did one of these. I just used the html video element absolutely positioned as Adam suggested. For generating the various video formats for x browser compatibility I used https://converterpoint.com. it also reduces the video size significantly.
Thank you - had not seen ‘converterpoint’ before - but just tried it and although quality dropped a bit it did reduce the file size by about 80% - thank you
Dawn, just noticed a spelling mistake on the site as well
- Is continual busyness tiring you out?
Thank you - just waiting for client to give me final text amends, I doubt they spotted it!!
