My client will be putting links in a presentation to some pdfs that will be in a folder on the site. She wants to prepare the file with links ahead of the site going live so the presentation is viewable with active links at that time we take the site live. Does the address change when the site goes live?
I did a test file and the address is: https://[mywebsite].trialsite.co//TestFolder/TESTFile.pdf
Will the .trialsite remain when it is live? Just need to make sure it won’t change so she can prepare the file.
Let me know!

Hi @Sue
The trialsite URL will be removed. So it’ll just be your client’s domain name and the file path:
eg: https://www.clientsdomain.com/testfolder/testfile.pdf
Thanks Adam, I did a test on one of my live sites and it looks like the .trialsite still appears in the address even though that site is live. ??
I’m ok if it’s there, I just need to make sure we use whatever address will work when a site is live.
Am I’m making sense? Any further thoughts?
Firstly, that ‘preview in new tab’ function in the file manager using the trial site URL is a bug. It should use the live site URL.
Secondly, you’ve constructed the live site URL incorrectly. Keeping the .co instead of the actual domain name using .com.
ie, the correct domain below works fine: https://faithuccmuscatine.com/testfolder/testfile.pdf
Just to clarify @Adam.Wilson - The trialsite or whatever domain you are using for test will still work after the site goes live? Not that there is much reason to use it, but it will remain. In the case that something happens to the DNS or similar, it will always be there
– I know that you know ALL about how this works, just wanted to be sure that it couldn’t be misunderstood - or there is also a fairly big risk that I am the one not understanding
